Victor Ortiz
I was 14 years old, tired of break dancing and geting no where. I meet this local kid Ray Calo. We lived in James Monroe Projects in the Bronx. He worked at Chastle hill bike shop. Rat the founder for the BMX Freestylin in the Bronx. I bought a thruster from him for 70 dollars and a week later in central part it was stolen. I then bought a Redline frame for 70 dollars and over the winter built the frame and I had my first BMX bike. He explain to me that I had to practice everyday and go into competion with the locals in order to get respect and join the the team. Who would know the I would be part of the biggest Freestyle in the East coast.
I remember reading Bmx plus magazing , there was a feature article Of the Hutch freestyle team . The team was made up of Michel Domingues, Woody Itson , and Donaven Ritter. they were deck out in Hutch trick Stars bike andwere at the top of the game. I remember adopting woody Itson Logo Do a Trick. From there on I fell in love with the sport. I would practice 6 to 12 hours a day. I left Music"la Guardia Music and art" school to become a freestyle ridder it changed my life put me college and made me become a school teacher.times have change however if it wasnot for BMX and the Rad Dogs I might been dead by now.
